In lieu of today’s Plinky question of the day, I wanted to wish you a very happy and safe New Year. Thanks for sticking with me in 2011. I’ve got some changes and surprises in store for you for 2012. I’m excited to for what the new year is going to bring. Something tells me it’s going to be a good one.
I’d like give a big THANK YOU to Michelle and Bree for hosting this amazing event. I was looking for a way to participate in some holiday fun and this turned out to be the perfect event. On to the big reveal…
WHAT I GAVE
The name that was picked out of the Santa hat for me was Angel over at Book Flame. I sent Angel the following books from her wish list:
I hope she doesn’t already have copies and that they’re picks she really wanted. *crosses fingers*
WHAT I RECEIVED
Whoever my Secret Santa was I want you to know that I think you’re made of AWESOME. Here’s a pic of what I received:
I was rendered speechless. Thank you so much for the amazing package.
*UPDATE*
I just found out my Secret Santa was Peggy from Pawing Through Books. THANKS AGAIN PEGGY!!
The Plinky Question of the Day is a weekly feature I added to the blog to get to know you guys better and vice versa. Sometimes the questions will deal with books or reading but, most of the time they won’t. Because, let’s face it, there’s more to us than what we read.
What are your most and least favorite things about the holiday season?
Okay so I’m kind of cheating this week because I just did a post about my top 10 favorite things. I know, I know…apologies but, today’s going to be hectic so I need to minimize my online time. So here goes…
Some of my MOST Favorite Things
Spending time with family
Decorating the tree
Christmas music
Some of my LEAST Favorite Things
Mall crowds (especially obnoxious ones)
Scrooges
Christmas music (What can I say? It’s a love hate thing)
What are some of your most and least favorite things about the holiday season?
Hello party people! Welcome to Day 16 of the 25 Days of Jubilation! I’m stoked to have you here. Today I’m sharing my top 10 favorite things about the holidays. So kick back, relax and get ready to feel all warm and fuzzy.
MY TOP 10 FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT THE HOLIDAYS
10. Fun Holiday Reads
Two of my current faves are…
9. Decorating the Christmas Tree
I’ve always enjoyed decorating the tree with my Mom and sister. To be honest, I kind of miss them now that I have to decorate it without them. Shhh! Don’t tell them. They’ll think I miss them or something.
8. My Aunt’s Holiday Cookies
The woman can cook and bake just about anything, but one of my favorite things is her holiday cookies. There is no end to her imagination. Like that one time she made eggnog cookies. Holy crap those were good. What am I saying?! They’re all good!
7. My Dad’s Hot Chocolate
It can revive the dead it’s so good.
6. Finally Getting to Enjoy Some Cold Weather
Living in Miami you don’t really get to experience “cold weather” per say but, I can’t help but get excited when it dips into the 70’s and the humidity stops relentlessly beating the crap out of us.
5. Watching Everyone Get into the Holiday Spirit
One of the best places to witness this is at my job. It is a full on war to see who can decorate the crap out of their desks / rows.
4. Finding the Perfect Gift for the People on Your List / Watching the Giftee’s Face Light Up with Surprise and Joy
It gives me such a feeling of completeness to finally find that perfect gift that I know such and such will love and then seeing the joy on their face when they open it.
3. Christmas Music
Crazy, right?! But I love the stuff. Especially this little ditty.
2. Giving to a Good Cause
This year my job did a pajama drive for a local orphanage. I donated two sets for some for the older kids who sometimes get overlooked because of the younger ones. It feels good to be able to give back.
1. Spending Time with Family

Name your favorite old movie.
It’s a toss up between:
Casablanca makes me sigh out loud every single time I watch it. What? You haven’t seen it?! Okay stop reading and go check it out. Seriously.
This was my grandma’s favorite movie and it always reminds me of her when I watch it or listen to the soundtrack.
My inquiring mind wants to know. What are some your favorite old movies?
