Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish because of their fondness for lists.  =)  They love to share their lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see other’s top ten lists!  Each week, they will post a new Top Ten list and everyone is welcome to join.  Please link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists.

Plinky Question of the Day

nnir_banner_plink

The Plinky Question of the Day is a weekly feature I added to the blog to get to know you guys better and vice versa.  Sometimes the questions will deal with books or reading but, most of the time they won’t.  Because, let’s face it, there’s more to us than what we read.

Name a board game that you'll never get tired of.

I’m a huge proponent of game nights.  They bring friends and family together and fun times are always had.  Unless, people get hyper-competitive but, that’s a whole other issue.  Anywhoozle, if I had asked myself this question three months ago I would’ve said..

Cranium

Charades, Name That Tune, Pictionary, Multiple Choice and Word Games all mixed into one box?!  What’s not to love?!

Then a few us got together for a girls’ night/Christmas party/gift exchange shindig and Ash brought along…

Quelf

Everything Cranium is plus added randomness.

Sorry Cranium.  I think I’m in love with someone else.  Seriously guys, if you haven’t given this board game a try you are totally missing out on some serious fun.

What are some board games you guys never get tired of?

Daring You To Read

Daring You to Read

This is another new feature I decided to add to the blog this year.  It’s hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and it’s ultimate goal is to help other readers discover books that they might not have noticed before.  For a full break down of how the meme works please click HERE or on the button above.

My first entry into the Daring You to Read arena is going to be Kim Harrison’s Dead Witch Walking, book one in the Hollows series.  This series sits in the number 1 spot of my all time favorite series list.  Mrs. Harrison has managed to create a story with amazing characters, incredible world building and storylines that’ll leave you emotionally and physically exhausted….in a  really, really good way.  So do yourselves a favor and go pick up a copy of Dead Witch Walking.  I promise you’ll be hooked within the first few pages.

DWW

The underground population of witches, vampires, werewolves—creatures of dreams and nightmares—has lived beside humans for centuries, hiding their powers. But after a genetically engineered virus wipes out a large part of humanity, many of the "Inderlanders" reveal themselves, changing everything.

Rachel Morgan, witch and bounty hunter with the Inderland Runner Services, is one of the best at apprehending supernatural lawbreakers throughout Cincinnati, but when it comes to following the rules, she falls desperately short. Determined to buck the system, she quits and takes off on the run with an I.S. contract on her head and is reluctantly forced to team up with Ivy, Inderland's best runner . . . and a living vampire. But this witch is way out of her league, and to clear her name, Rachel must evade shape-changing assassins, outwit a powerful businessman/crime lord, and survive a vicious underground fight-to-the-death . . . not to mention her own roommate.

Not completely sold?  Check out what my friend Smash Attack Ash had to say about the series.

My Book Boyfriend: Deacon Chalk

My Book Boyfriend

One of the monthly features I decided to add to the blog this year is Missie’s My Book Boyfriend meme.  It was an easy choice to make because A) Missie rocks and B) I get to talk man candy.  Who’d say no to that?!  ;-)  Okay so for my first ever My Book Boyfriend post I’m going with the main character from James R. Tuck’s debut novel, Deacon Chalk.  You can thank me for the intro later.  *grins*

QUOTES

Freaking me out is not a good idea.  It tends to make me shoot people.
-Location 202

rock 5

I mean, I’m an asshole but, I’m not a fucking asshole.
-Location 767

I have found in my time on this earth that while I do not appeal to every woman, I do appeal to some.  Because my appearance is so polarizing the women who like the way I look, really like the way I look.  There are women in this world that I just trip their tripper.
-Location 1791

I know, I know, call me a caveman all you want, but I feel the need to protect the women. . . . I can't help it, it is how I was raised.
-Location 2811

He’s a little rough around edges but, it doesn’t take away from the RAWR factor. My version of Deacon Chalk is being portrayed by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. I could spend all day looking at this delicious man. *sigh*

Tune in Tuesday

Tune in Tuesday

This weekly meme is hosted by Ginger at GReads and is meant to showcase another passion: music. Each week you can post an old or new song so that it gains more interest or is discovered by new ears.  So let's help Ginger spread our love of music.  Oh and don't forget to submit a link to your post over on Ginger's site by clicking on the banner.

Sometimes I’m in a bluesy kind of mood.  And when I am you can bet your left butt cheek this song’s on my playlist.

If you’re wondering why it sounds familiar it’s probably because you saw it in this here promo…

You’re welcome!  ;-)

What old shows do you wish you could still watch on TV?

This one turned out to be a little harder than I anticipated.  One, because I’m a huge fan of watching TV and two, because I’m indecisive.  So after going back and forth with myself like a crazy person here’s what I decided to go with.  (On a side note, some of these may have reruns still airing but, that doesn’t count because to me it’s not the same.)

In first place we have Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Sarah Michelle Gellar, David Boreanaz and James Marsters.  ‘Nough said.

Second place goes to Charmed

Charmed

I’ve always loved the whole witchcraft angle.  I loved The Craft so naturally I was drawn to this show.  That and I love me some Alyssa Milano.

Third place is a tie between Dawson’s Creek and 90210 (the original)

Dawson's Creek 90210

I blame Joshua Jackson and Luke Perry.

*sigh*

How about you guys?  What old shows do you wish you could still watch on TV?
