  2. How did Gabe know to come back for Tommy and Troy?

  3. Why does Troy decide to come clean about what happens in the woods?

  4. Do you think Troy felt a sense of justice when he heard of Jack and Chase's death?

It's been a pleasure y'all.  Don't forget to head over to Ash's site on September 8th for the first round of The Marbury Lens discussion questions.

Guest Post: James R. Tuck

Not Now...I'm Reading!

Hello ladies and gents!  I'm super stoked to have James R. Tuck with us today.  He's the author of the Deacon Chalk: Occult Bounty Hunter series, an accomplished tattoo artist and an all around bad ass.  I had the chance to review That Thing at the Zoo and Blood and Bullets, a prequel novella and book 1 in the series, not too long ago and I must say it was quite a good time.  Today's a big day for James.  Blood and Silver, book 2 in the Deacon Chalk series, hits shelves TODAY!  So without further ado, heeeeerrrreeeee's James.

EVERYBODY WAS KUNG FU FIGHTIN'
James R. Tuck

Now I write an action-packed series. There are bullets flyin, blood sprayin', and explosions all over the place. I love fight scenes and action scenes. So here are a list of my favorite fight scenes from movies and TV with Youtube clips where available.  WARNING: be prepared for violence, blood, gore, and language that is NSFW

10)  Blade vs. a rave full of vampires (Blade)
This is from the first Blade movies and actually pretty much the opening scene. You get a kick ass fight scene and right off the bat you know what kind of character Blade is and what kind of movie you are in for.

9)  Anna vs. Larry (Closer)
This fight scene is gut-wrenching. I mean at the end of it you feel like you have been hollowed out and spilled on the floor. Two truly talented actors and a scene that is as well-written as it can be. This is a great movie, highly recommended.

8)  The Eleventh Doctor vs. River Song (Dr. Who)
I truly love the Eleventh Doctor...he's MY Doctor. This fight scene from “Let's Kill Hitler” is a tremendous amount of fun. I couldn't find a clip of the fight, but it's on Netflix and here is a clip of one of the best moments in the episode that is not the fight.

7)  Wesley vs. Skip the demon (Angel, Season 4)
Okay, there isn't a video for this scene, but for you Buffy/Angel fans there is a scene in season 4 where Skip is totally kicking everybody's collective ass and Wesley strides up all badass with two guns a blazin' and with a well placed shot ends the whole thing. Wesley's arc as a character is tremendous in the Buffyverse. He's funny then serious, then complicated, then damaged, then badass, then redeemed, then destroyed, then a champion. It's amazing. Here is a Wesley tribute video...it's a bit low quality, but  what can you do?

6) Buffy Summers and the potential slayers vs. an asston of vampires (Buffy Season Finale)
Joss Whedon is the MAN. What a way to wrap a series. I mean damn. The edits are a bit off here, but you will get the point AND seriously, you should have already seen this.

5)  Daniel Russo vs. Johnny Lawrence (The Karate Kid)
Oh you KNEW this was going to be on here. It's a classic.  You have the underdog and the bully. It's an amazing movie. Plus, we all practiced our crane kicks in the back yard as kids, admit it, you were there!

4)  River Tam vs. a whole bar (Serenity)
Again Joss Whedon is the man. Here is an example of a 100 lbs girl kicking the ass of an entire bar full of people. I don't know who choreographed this fight scene but they did an excellent job. they really utilized Summer Glau's ballet skills to make her look like a butt-kickin' machine!

3)  Indiana Jones vs. random henchman with a sword (Raiders Of the Lost Ark)
This was an improvised scene. Harrison Ford was supposed to use the whip like we all thought he was going to do but the entire crew, including Harrison Ford had been battling raging dysentery and he just wasn't in the mood. The sweetest, shortest fight scene ever.

2)  Tom Cody vs. all the Road Masters (Streets of Fire)
There are not words to describe how much I LOVE this movie. It oozes cool and has a terrific soundtrack. They call this a rock n' roll fable and it fits. This movie is a giant ball of awesome. You can buy it for like 4 bucks and you totally should. This scene is the epitome of why Tom Cody is a bad S.O.B.

1)  The Man In Black vs. Inigo Montoya (The Princess Bride)
In my opinion The Princess Bride is hands down the BEST movie ever made. You never want to watch this with me because if you do you will have to watch it while I quote the ENTIRE movie. Everybody's lines, every bit of dialog. This is a tremendous sword fight scene. the battle is fierce and still allows the humor of the movie to shine without being a farce.

A million thanks for dropping by James!  I love me some fight scenes and this was a great list.  Listen up party people, make sure you pick up your copy of Spider's Lullaby and Blood and Silver today.  You won't be disappointed.

Oh and one more thing.  Don't forget to stalk, er, I mean follow James R. Tuck.  It's totally worth it.

Andrew Smith Saturdays

What's up party people!?  Hope you all had a fabulous week.  Welcome to Week 1 of the Ghost Medicine discussion.  Let's get to the discussing...

  1. What's your take on Troy's trek?  Do you think he would have gone back home of his own accord if Luz hadn't gone looking for him?

  2. Gabe gave his theory on why his father gave Troy the horse.  Do you agree with his theory?

  3. Troy and Rose develop an interesting friendship.  How do you think this will play out during the rest of the novel?

  4. Why do you think Gabe has such a bad reaction to killing the mountain lion?

Can't wait to see what your thoughts are.  Once you drop off your two cents don't forget to stop by Smash Attack Reads for your chance to win a copy of The Marbury Lens.

We'll be discussing Chapters 9 - 15 next Saturday.  See you then.  =)
